Animation Updates: Sem 2, Week 4 - 11/08/20

So far, I have begun the creation of my pencil tests and blocking of my animation. Currently, I have sketched out the first two scenes of my short. Here is the current pencil test:

Overall, my lecturer commented that I had a good base sketch, but I needed to adjust the pacing of this pencil test. Many of the scenes shown here pass by too quickly and need to be slowed down to have a better pace and give some time for the audience to understand what is happening in the story.

To add a bit of dramatic effect, my lecturer has suggested that I add a bit of a 'scramble' as the cat turns the corner. Another suggestion was to make the interactions with the girl and the cat a bit more gentle - she approaches it a bit too quickly, when in the real world an action like that would have scared the cat off, so it must be much gentle and wary as the girl does not want the cat to flee.

As of right now, my lecturer has implemented a one-on-one system that allows him to go through one half of the class per week. Due to this, I think it would be more suitable if this blog were to be updated every two weeks, following my lecturer's schedule. This would allow me to work straightforwardly on my pencil tests, and I can showcase bigger improvements and changes in my work.
